Hi friends! Welcome to Every Last Detail, Insight For Pros!

welcometo copy

Every Last Detail For Pros is our little corner of the internet to talk business, marketing, blogging, and all things weddings! I usually spend most of my time talking to and sharing with brides, but I felt it was high time that I started doing the same with wedding pros. Because if you’ve seen any of my personal Facebook posts, I have a few thoughts about weddings, marketing, and the like! ๐Ÿ™‚

Posts here on ELD For Pros certainly won’t be as frequent as they are on ELD For Brides, but I will definitely post more often than not. For now, I’ve pulled over some of my more “business-y” posts from the main ELD site if you want to catch up with those, but I have more coming! ๐Ÿ™‚ I would suggest signing up to receive updates when a new post goes live, and “liking” my new page on Facebook. I may have a few other things in the works too, so you can be the first to find out about those fun announcements too!

So with all that said, let’s get down to the celebration! Today actually marks the 3rd anniversary of when I went full time with ELD, and so I figured that launching ELD For Pros would be the perfect way to celebrate this little milestone! It feels like it was just yesterday, but at the same time, it feels like forever ago! Isn’t it crazy how time flies when you enjoy what you do?

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned in my 3 years of being “full time”, it’s that we’re all in this journey of owning a business together. This thought alone is a very large part of why I’ve decided to create this “space” just for Pros here on ELD. Because owning a business is hard, and not only that, but the wedding industry is even harder. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take whatever kind of help and support I can get! ๐Ÿ™‚

Honestly,ย I wouldn’t even be here without all of you amazing wedding pros who have believe in me and supported me, and so I want to do something to thank you- something that will help you in your journey of owning a business.

So as part of this anniversary celebration and launch of ELD For Pros, I’m giving away a banner ad on Every Last Detail’s “main site”!

You can enter to win the banner ad in various ways via the box below, and I will be choosing a winner next Friday the 18th!ย Enter away friends! I’m only giving away 1 ad, but Iย mayย end up doing 2 if there are enough entries! ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s pretty tough to summarize my journey. There have been a lot of hard knocks. Wasted money. Time I can never get back. But also tears of joy. Little things that make me squeal. Increased confidence. I have come a long way but have a lot more to learn. The most important thing for me at this time in my business is learning how to a) continue to improve my skill-set and b) how to attract the RIGHT type of clients.

Excited for this new space! I’ve been full time for a little over a year now and have been surprised by how much time the ‘business’ side of things takes up my actual time being a photographer. I struggle the most with getting across to potential clients the importance of hiring a professional instead of a “friend” who is going to take their pictures. It can be disheartening spending 20 minutes crafting a response email to a client regarding their wedding photography only to have them get sticker shock with my pricing and simply respond that they can’t afford me, when my pricing is very affordable in the world of wedding photography. It’s difficult to communicate to clients what things should cost!

I want to get better at writing. We have committed to blogging more frequently but I am not a writer so it has been difficult.

We are fortunate that we’ve been well received in the wedding industry community, and have thereby been experiencing a lot of rapid growth (which is wonderful!). With this growth, I’ve been reaching out to other vendors and talking to them about their organizational setups and systems that help run the day-to-day business but allows for time to remain focused and creative. This networking has helped me feel not so alone in my challenges and enlightened by ideas I hadn’t thought to incorporate. I want to continue to improve my client communication strategies to help clients (both potential and existing) feel as important as they are to me and my business.

My journey has been nuts, but I have to say that I really do love it! I have a background in the fashion industry and then somehow found my way into corporate event planning, which prompted me to start my own wedding planning and design business! It is truly nuts how it all worked out, but I am so thankful for all of the amazing vendors I have met along the way, near and far. I’d love to learn more about marketing, finding and obtaining my ideal clients and pricing..ugh! Can’t wait to learn from you!

For someone who just launched in February, your insight has been so encouraging and helpful! It has been a huge learning curve for me and can be overwhelming balancing business, marketing, social media, clients, full-time job, and marriage. Can’t wait to get my first projects out there and see what happens! Excited to build a supportive community here! Congrats on 3 years!

I love weddings, I love photography, I love love. And I love to teach. Being a wedding photographer allowed me to follow all those passion. I capture the moments for my couples, tell their stories. And I can teach other wedding photographers how to grow their business.
I love the idea of you starting a business blog, too, as you’re one of the people inspiring me most in this industry. I think we are in a wonderful industry where all of us can grow together and help each other. I always loved teaching other photographers, teaching them. People tell me I’m raising the competition. I see that differently and am happy to see you agree ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck with your new project! Enjoy it!

    xoxo – Kate

I am coming up on my one year anniversary as a business owner. It has most definitely been an AMAZING journey, but not without many challenges. It’s hard to convince myself to spend the money on the branding, marketing etc. that will help bring me more business, and it’s hard to tell myself that ‘it’s okay, I’m still new, the clients will come.’ I’m continually battling with branching out, but always learning. I am NOT full time yet (boo!) but I have put that on my goals list by 2016. I haven’t yet because I know that it will be too tough on myself and my family without my full time work income.

I’m.coming up on my own 3rd anniversary but this is the first year we’re seeing growth and bigger paychecks. As a WAHM, it’s a constant struggle of business vs. Kids but if they’re all thriving, I must be doing something right. I’d love to know how to turn “fans” into clients though as well as attracting brides that are a good fit.

I am not full time yet but wish I could be! What currently holds me back is not yet having enough business to sustain going full time. We haven’t yet reached our one yr anniversary in business here in FL so I’m hoping by year two I will be full time ๐Ÿ™‚

Wow, I’m so excited for this! I don’t know of any other wedding blog that offers something like this for business professionals! This is going to be great! I’ve been a wedding photographer for almost 5 years and I still have certain struggles in the business end, really hoping this side of your blog will help me grow and expand. ๐Ÿ™‚ Keep doing amazing things Lauren!

The journey of being a business owner has had a lot of rewarding challenges but given where my company is now I wouldn’t trade any of those experiences. I just keep looking forward to the future!
